For those of you tired of all the GT-R tuning blog entries your prayers have been answered! Motaz, the General Manager of Tam Engineering in Dubai has been patiently working on their incredible shop Evo9 project for the past 2 years. Like many shop cars, this one was lowest on the priority list which is the main reason it took over 2 years to complete. But patiently one step at a time him and his team found time to piece the car together.
So in between tuning the GT-R’s I told Motaz I would gladly break in the engine and tune it for him using the HKS Fcon Vpro. It was the least I can do for all the help and hospitality they’ve extended to me. As I fired up the engine for the first time, I’ll never forget the smile that emerged from Motaz’s face… at last all that hard work was finally paying off. The Tam Engineering Evo9 is designed to be a showcase of some of the shop’s capabilities and will also be used for circuit course racing. As such, they selected a fast spooling GT35 and 2.3L stoker. I can tell you that boost response is nearly instant and this will be a really fun car to drive on track.
So after a steady state engine break in on their Dyno Dynamics AWD Dyno, I began tuning at the very mild 19 psi level. Within an hour, I was done with 433whp@19psi. High boost will have to wait because…well you know…the customer cars come before the shop cars. This is definately one of my favorite Evo’s of all time and hope to return soon to finish the high boost tunes!
